Lil Wayne Archives

The fact that Wayne is already behind bars serving his sentence in New York, didn’t stop the Yuma County, Arizona, issue a bench warrant for his arrest after missing a court date.

Wayne was arrested near Yuma in January 2008 for drug possession when the DEA agents found 105 grams of marijuana, 29 grams of cocaine and 41 grams of ecstasy pills and a 40-caliber pistol on his tour bus.

The rapper pleaded not guilty for the possession of dangerous drugs, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia but missed this court date for completely obvious reasons- incarceration in Riker’s. However, what is logical to him it’s obviously not logical for the Yuma County officials and he is now wanted in Arizona.

Lil Wayne’s life in prison

Lil Wayne, who has been locked up for gun possession is now a whole week in serving his sentence in  Riker’s Island Prison, NY. Wheezy who is now being referred to as Inmate Carter( because his real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr) hasn’t been given any special treatment.

“Inmate Carter is in a category of housing that we call ‘general population/escort.”- a correctional official explained to the People Magazine. Being a celebrity, however, did score him some benefits, like protective custody. That means that he will have an escort from the moment he leaves his housing area( cell or a day room) to the moment he returns back in it. Protective custody will also relieve him from working duties other inmates have because, as the official pointed out, :“ then you’d have to send somebody off to escort him every day”

Except from that, Wheezy has been treated like any other inmate there: he will wear standard clothing, eat at standard times and have the same treatment.

Any good news for Wheezy? Well, if he behaves properly he might be out in 8 months.

This news probably disappointed his incarcerated fans. That is, if Wayne has any fans in prison.

The popular rapper was ordered not to give any autographs while serving his time at Rikers Island correctional facility. Lil’ Wayne was not given the celebrity status nor he asked for it. So, as far as the US officials are concerned- he won’t be treated any differently than any other inmate.

“Lil Wayne is not a celebrity in here”- Correction Officer’s Benevolent Association’s rep told for TMZ news site. Wayne, who’s been in Rikers for a whole week now, got protective custody and special medical care, but nothing more than that.

Lil Wayne arrived to Rikers Island jail

After pleading guilty for gun possession charges dating from 2007, the platinum rapper was transported to Rikers Island correctional facility in New York. Wheezy managed to get protective custody and special medical care while staying in prison, and being a “high-profile inmate” he was transported alone in a van.

Being a celebrity really pays out even in this situations, right? Hopefully yes, because it is still unknown will Wayne stay in general population ward or he will have a special cell. No matter how it all goes down, he must be in his best behaviour if he wants out sooner.

Best of luck to him in the big house…And, Whezzy, don’t drop the soap in the showers!

Lil Wayne – Still no jail for Whezzy

Whezzy has been one lucky felon so far! First his jail time was postponed so he could go and get his teeth done. Whizzy was given a few weeks to replace his diamond teeth with a less expensive, jail-appropriate grill.

Then he was supposed to show up in court in Wednesday, but a fire in the courthouse broke out and the judge postponed Whizzy’s court date for Monday, when most of the damage caused by the fire should be repaired.

So we can expect him back in the court next week…If a meteor shower, or some similar freakish accident doesn’t tear down the court house completely… The question is- Will Whizzy go to jail or take his well earned place in the Guinness book of records?

Lil Wayne – Off to the big house

Whizzy finally got his grill fixed and now it’s time to serve his time for weapon possession. Although this Grammy winner  has once said that he is looking forward to jail, we somehow doubt he really feels that way. According to the jail officials. Platinum-selling rapper won’t have a special treatment in the big house.

“It’s not about setting (a celebrity) on a bed of roses, but it is about an obligation to every inmate to keep him safe.”, the former head of the New York City Jails, Martin Horn, explained.

Stacey Richman, the defence attorney said that protective custody will be asked for Lil Wayne, not because he is a celebrity but because of his health problems: “If Wayne had his druthers, he would not be asking for anything for himself”

In the mean time, Whizzy was allowed another trip to the dentist’s office to remove his 150000$ diamond teeth and replace them with a jail appropriate, cheaper one. Whizzy will start serving his sentence on March 3rd.
